Founded on a question nobody would answer.

Wardexa is new, and we’d rather say so on this page than imply a decade of heritage we haven’t earned. Implied heritage is one of the things that made us start.

How it began

It started with a shopping trip that went badly. Adam was buying a carbon monoxide detector for his parents and wanted the answer to one question before spending the money: which sensor is behind each of the readings printed on the box?

Four listings. Three storefronts. Two support chats. Not one of them could answer. Several of the “6-in-1” boxes turned out to be counting room temperature and battery status among the six.

That gap is bigger than it looks. A gas detector is one of the very few things you buy hoping never to use it — which means you can’t judge it by using it. The only evidence available to a buyer before purchase is what the seller is willing to write down. In this category, almost nobody writes anything down, and the listings that look most convincing tend to be the ones making the largest claims with the least behind them.

So Wardexa was built backwards from that. Before a product appears on this site, its sensors, alarm thresholds, battery runtime, certifications, intended environments and placement requirements are independently verified — and then published in full, where you can read all of it before you buy. If we can’t source a claim, it doesn’t go on the label. That rule costs us sales. It’s also the only good reason to start another detector brand.

How we got here

The question

Which sensor sits behind each reading? It should have been on the box. It wasn’t on the box, the listing, the manual, or in the support chat.

The audit

We bought the leading 6-in-1 units and read every listing, insert and manual we could get hold of. Most had no spec sheet at all. Some quoted alarm thresholds with no standard attached. One promised a 60-day guarantee on the product page and 30 days in the returns policy.

The rule

Nothing goes live until the sensors, thresholds, runtime, certifications, intended environments and placement requirements are independently verified. Not verified by the factory that wants the order — verified separately.

The documents

The spec sheet, the full manual, both placement maps and the limitations page were written before the product page, not after it. If the documents can’t justify the sales copy, the sales copy is what changes.

Today

One product, every document public, and a fire blanket sitting in a drawer until it clears its own validation on shedding, pull-tab release, labelling and applicable standards. It would be an easy upsell. It isn’t ready, so it isn’t listed.

Nothing we can’t source

If we can’t name the sensor, cite the standard or link the record, the claim doesn’t appear — not in the copy, not on the label, not in an ad.

Nothing ships unverified

Sensors, thresholds, runtime, certifications, environments and placement are checked independently before a product is listed. No exceptions for launch deadlines.

60 days, one number

Sixty days from delivery, for any reason. Sixty on this page means sixty in the policy — there is no second, shorter number in the small print.
